Living Water For Thirsty Women
Water not only quenches thirst but hydrates our bodies. According to statistics, we should drink an average of 8 glasses of water per day.
Stay with me here…
My friends dared me to go out with one guy per week via Tinder for the month of December. The objective was to take one last swing at the dating scene and see what was out there.
Online dating would give me the opportunity to meet new people and make a connection quickly. I downloaded all the APPS they recommended, because I wanted to see all the world had to offer me.
So, it was week two, and by this time I was talking to 6 men and trying to narrow it down. Each guy seemed like a good fit, well according to their profile picture and short-lived conversation.
As I swiped left and X right, I started to wonder: Am I being thirsty?
Immediately I was convicted with the scripture that says “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in Me, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. “John 4:14
Of course, Jesus wasn’t talking about me being thirsty/desperate.
Originally, I downloaded all these apps as a bet, but deep down, I knew I was REACHING for something from these men. I had to ask myself, why I was in a rush to be CHOSEN.
In 2018, I found myself in a situationship with many emotionally unavailable men. I was building friendships/companionships/situationship with just about anyone ready to give me a bit of attention or love.
I was team thirsty. I can talk about it now, because I am an overcomer (don’t judge me).
I had to realize I am single, it gets lonely, and dating in 2019 is not necessarily the easiest thing to do. Nevertheless, Jesus knows the desires of my heart (Psalms 37:4).
As we start the New Year off, what are some dry areas in your life?
Whether it is:
holding on to the guy who won’t commit,
the unemotional/unavailable guy you’re talking to,
the guy feeding you enough bread crumbs to keep you around
the relationship you keep reviving
the loose ends you have not stitched up with your ex
or, performing surgery on a relationship that is already dead
I invite you in 2019 to join me in drinking from our Fathers well, because only he knows what’s best for you.
Read: John 7:37-38
“If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
