Last year everyone and their momma seemed to be summoning their hearts desires and "curating" their blessings. We saw new jobs, new relationships, new opportunities, healing and comebacks (just look at Meek…) ! We couldn’t be happier but can't help to wonder... What is #manifesting? Is God in on this? And if so, how do we get right to it!
So, the Black Girls Pray team took the Bible to see if Christian living authorizes the #Manifesting Movement:
Let’s start by answering a simple question: What is manifesting?
Manifesting is the idea that we have the power to intentionally create what we want. Some say that we on earth, have the ability to manifest anything the heart desires – wealth, optimal health, love, houses, cars, peace of mind… and that the power to manifest lies within you.
Is manifesting a Christian practice?
In the Bible there is no mention of MAN having the authority to create or produce their true desires by their works alone. In fact, the Bible notes several times and in several different ways that everything occurs in Gods timing. Ecclesiastes 3 (GNT) reads "Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses" meaning that the seasonality of your life is completely up to God's jurisdiction. There is a time and a season for everything under the sun, and the abundant season of your life occurs according to “the riches and glory in Jesus Christ” (Philippians 4:19)
Wait, so does this mean I can manifest or nah?
After doing some investigative digging, we found that the only way to a life of true abundance is through Jesus who is the word (read John 1). With that said, no you cannot manifest BUT yes, you can call on God of the universe who has the power and authority/grants you the authority to do exceedingly abundantly more in your life. He "calls into existence the things that do not exist" (Romans 4:17) and it is through Him, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, [who] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. (1 Peter 5:10)
So, GOD can Manifest?
Yes, God can restore, replenish, and breathe life into things that were perceived to be dead. We're sorry to share but the manifesting mania trend is just that -- a trend -- we ain’t got the juice like that.
Ok, what now?
Take the time to invite God into your plans for your life, have him stir up the spirit inside of you. Ask Him to prepare you for the journey toward His will, which is far greater than anything you could ever plan, predict, meditate on or manifest.
Read Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires.
