03. Sailing Single
Two years ago today I was in the infirmary of this very ship. 😪
I had screamed cried myself ill in my cabin and I couldn’t help but to wonder how I got there — the bottom deck of a massive cruise-liner unable to speak because I was hoarse and barely able to see because my eyes were swollen shut.
My boyfriend at the time had let me know the day before our very first vacation that he didn’t think traveling together was the right thing to do and that our relationship was moving too fast. So I went alone. In all fairness I was nowhere near the “good thing” for him that the Bible talks about. But I was still broken. LET ME TELL YOU HOW AWESOME GOD IS THOUGH. AND ITS NOT UNTIL JUST NOW THAT I REALIZED HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO CLING TO HIM..
Just as I was preparing to wallow in my bed last night, two of l my best friends Charley and Turalloy show up randomly at my door step with pizza and white wine. I automatically collapsed into their arms because I felt so relieved. We laughed and joked for the rest of the evening.
And then today 10/21/17 two of my friends both had weddings today. As I’m scrolling through the Instagram posts from their wedding hashtag I keep seeing 10/21...10/21...10/21 ..celebrate love and then for some reason it clicked. Two years ago I wasn’t able to comprehend that just because love was lost, doesn’t mean it shouldn't be celebrated. So thank you ex-boyfriend for giving me the opportunity to fall in love with myself for the past two years.
To all of you who are struggling with this single walk that God has placed you on, feel free to reach out to me. I can help. I’ll be writing a 7 part article about that whole experience and how it has prepared me for the single phase. #SailingSingle
